Collins Avenue in Miami is an integral part of the city. Back when Miami Beach was first developing a new road was carved out parallel to the beach. It began as a purely functional road to stretch along the beach on a North-South axis but it has now developed into the main artery that keeps Miami Beach alive. Named after the famous developer John S. Collins, it runs parallel to the Atlantic Ocean and is also known as State Road A1A.
Collins Avenue is home to many historic Art Deco hotels and several nightclub. You will find some of the most famous hotels from the 1950s and 1960s eras. With its palm tree lined street, this stretch in Miami is a gorgeous spot offering you plenty of opportunities to eat and drink along the way.
The Miami International Boat Show occurs on Collins Avenue every year. This event is held every February and is produced by the Marine Manufacturers Association in Miami and Miami Beach. It is a great event to witness and if your trip to Miami is in February you should definitely go along.
